Ms Aletheia Chan founded Distinction Tutorial School in December 1993. She obtained her Master in Educational Studies from the University of Sheffield (UK), a post graduate diploma in education and the Bachelor of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore. Formerly, she taught "O" level English in New Town Secondary School and "A" level subjects in the then Townsville Institute. Currently, she teaches primary and secondary English as well as "A" level General Paper. Under her, many students achieved distinction in their language paper. She is adept in Socratic questioning in challenging her students to think critically. Ms Aletheia Chan is passionate to impart her love of the written text and aims to enhance her students’ grasp of the English language both linguistically and culturally. She is the author of the popular upper secondary composition guide, "JUST WRITE" published by Panpac Education Private Limited. |

Mr Low Tong Chia co-founded Distinction Tutorial School in December 1993. He obtained his Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) and post-graduate diploma in education from the National University of Singapore. Formerly, he was a head of department, teaching Mathematics, Science and "A" level Physics in Gan Eng Seng School. A patient and kind teacher with a knack for making complex concepts easy to understand, he has seen many of his students achieved sterling results in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. Over the years, students have enjoyed his stress-free lessons and benefited from his clear explanations as well as the study notes he prepares conscientiously. He co-authored the book "Physics for "O" level", a Federal Study Aid. |

Mr Edwin Heng holds a Master Degree in Social Science (Applied Economics), a Bachelor Degree in Social Science (Hons) with specialization in Economics as well as a Bachelor of Arts Degree (Merit), awarded by the National University of Singapore. Augmenting these formal qualifications, Mr Heng also comes to us with practical industry experiences in the financial and capital markets, cross-disciplined in the various fields of macroeconomic research, strategy planning, financial product management & development, derivatives research, financial information management and project management. Having a firm belief in the sharing of these applicable theoretical concepts to students, Mr Heng also conducts lectures and courses in Economics at both the postgraduate (MBA) and diploma levels, which are awarded by foreign Universities and/or local private tertiary institutions. He was also a Prize Winner of the 2001 National Open Category Monetary Authority of Singapore-Economic Society of Singapore (MAS-ESS) Inaugural Economic Essay Competition – ‘East Asia in the New Economy: Challenges and Opportunities’. Mr Kenny Cheng is a graduate from both US and UK universities. He is a humorous teacher who easily puts his students at ease to communicate with him. He has a special knack of helping weaker students achieve dramatic improvements in Mathematics and Science. His teaching philosophy is for students to enjoy their studies, enjoy their exams and to enjoy their results. Besides teaching, Kenny is also musically inclined; he enjoys playing the electric guitar. |

Mr Martin Thong graduated from the National University of Singapore with a B.Eng (Hons) degree in Electrical Engineering. He obtained his Post-Graduate in Diploma in Education (PGDE) from National Institute of Education (NIE) and was posted to teach Physics and Mathematics in Damai Secondary School.
Martin is a creative and logical thinker. He believes that learners gain most through interest in the subject and application in what they have learnt in their everyday lives. He is IT savvy and often searches the internet for interesting content for his lessons. In 2006, he was invited to share on “ Teaching Mathematics Creatively” at Centre of Excellence Mathematics East Zone and again at MOE Excelfest. He also participated in the Iron Science Teacher held at the Singapore Science Center in 2005 and 2006 to exchange ideas on how to teach Physics in an interesting way.
Martin is also schooled in Problem Based Learning(PBL). He asks higher order thinking questions so that pupils are not mere information recipients but also deep thinkers.
Martin is a varsity player in Chinese chess while at NUS. He also represents Temasek Hall in Inter-hall Games. His latest craze is solving Sodoku puzzles at amazing speed. Martin's other interest is foosball aka table-soccer. Having played the game for over 15 years, he wants to groom a team of players to represent the country in international competitions.
